Oshun the African Queen of all Waters

Oshun the African Queen of all Waters-
The Beautiful Goddess
Oshun of Africa
Well I thought I would mix it up a bit with the different cultures.. I have Explored the Greek Mythology to a great length, however there is still more I can do there I wanted to travel of sorts to other cultures to see what they are like.. I hope that you all will find these Posts interesting as I do my dear Friends & Followers. And I want to thank you again so much for following ME! these past 2years. I couldn't of had this blog without YOU! So ThankYOU! So Much... YOUR WENDY...
So on with the Story of Yalorde the African Queen.. Yes We are going into African Mythology today. In Africa Mythology Oshun was often called Yalorde who was the Queen of all the Waters of Africa. Yalorde was given this title because of her amazing beauty, kindness and love of Nature. What made Oshun such a beauty was her complication of cinnamon color skin, radiant black eyes and silky black hair. However, it was mostly what was inside that radiated out herself that made Oshun such a beautiful Queen. Oshun is the Daughter of Yemaya, the Goddess of all the waters and is herself the Goddess of fresh waters; rivers, lakes, and ponds. Oshun has a palace under the water of a great river called Ile Tinibu. The people of her Kingdom loved her dearly because of  the care she showed them. It seems that Oshun is the equivalent of Venus or Aphrodite in African Mythology. Like them she is called 'the Goddess of Love'. Just like in the Greek Goddesses Venus & Aphrodite, Oshun was also one of the most beautiful of all the goddesses of Yemaya was more beautiful). There were some important differences from what I learned with the two goddesses Oshun and Yemaya from Africa.
The Beautiful
Goddess Oshun
Oggun God of Iron & War
And there were important differences between the  Greek Goddesses Venus & Aphrodite - verses the African Goddesses Oshun and Yemaya. You see it seems that the Greek goddesses were rather vain ans self-centered, they also could be cruel and treacherous to the human kind. However, with the African Goddesses Oshun who was best known for her kindness, toward everybody; Gods, Goddesses and the humans too. To the Africans this was considered the most important quality that anyone could every possess. And the tale continues... It seems that Once the Goddess Yemaya had threw a party to honor the Supreme Beings and all the Gods came Except Oggun. Oggun is the God of Iron & War and is very much a solitary God; However, this didn't seem to stop Yemaya, she had sent messengers to beg him to come because they could not perform the sacrifices without him.  Yemaya was sure that Oggun would come to her party, in which she had threw in honor of all the Supreme being Gods. However, Oggun had refused to come to the festive Yemaya had threw together in honor of all Supreme Gods..including Oggun. Yemaya  decided to go see Oggun herself. She told herself as she head to his palace that, she would force him to attend her Party and to teach the God Oggun a lesson he would never forget. Now I wonder, this is the God of War & Iron that the Goddesses Yemaya of water thinks she is going to teach a lesson he is never going to forget? I wonder if this is going to back-fire on the goddess just an observation on my part on this tale.. I just think its not a very good idea in my own opinion. However, it seems that Oshun her daughter had stopped her mother, by saying that she would bring Oggun from the forest. So at the party all the gods were very surprised when Oshun was the Youngest and no one thought she could actually get Oggun to come to the party. But she did! At first Yemaya refused, but Oshun insisted and finally was allowed to go. Thinking ahead Oshun took a jar of honey with her.  When Oshun had reached the forest she couldn't find Oggun at first. She knew he was close, because she could smell him.Eventually she did find him hiding in a very large tree. The Goddess Oshun told Oggun that her mother needed him for the sacrifices, but he ignored her. Realizing that Oggun would never listen and she now knew where he was, Oshun took some honey from the Jar she was carrying and smeared it on the Gods lips. Well this must of been a very special blend of honey because when Oggun tasted the sweet honey on his lips he began to change. He relaxed and became more docile too. So Oshun took some more honey form the jar she was carrying and smeared it on his lips again. When Oggun tasted the sweet honey he began to change even more! The great God Oggun had become so relaxed and more docile, that at this point Oshun began to sing to him and began to lead him out of the forest and back to her mother's party... By the time the two arrived at the party, the other Gods/Goddess were all amazed to see Oshun bringing Oggun out of the forest. After that day Oshun gained everyone respect, especially the respect for the Supreme Being.
Oggun God  of War
They said that Oshun was truly the greatest of them all of the Goddess of Africa. Without a fight she had brought the most violent God of War out of the Forest against his own will...
To the African people Oshun was both a beautiful and strong goddess in the Mythology of the African culture... I hope that you all Enjoyed the tale of Oshun and her strength of what she was able to do for her people.. I will leave you with some beautiful images of this beautiful African Goddess.
