Nemesis Goddess

NEMESIS GODDESS-
I thought would do another Goddess of the Ancient Greeks of
Goddess Nemesis
in the heavens of
Olympians
Olympians. I have done quite a few as of 2014 and I know there are still
many more that I can still do. I was just surfing the web and Nemesis caught
my eye. I hope that this goddess will be as interesting as Many of the Goddesses
that I have done before. Although this goddess Nemesis is a bit more I would say
feminist for one in the ancient Gods and Goddesses of the Olympians. In someways
I think she was a bit before her time.
Nemesis was the Goddess of indignation against and retribution for, evil deeds
and undeserved good fortune. She was a personification of the resentment of any
Goddess Nemesis

World
type of aroused in men by those who committed crimes with apparent impunity or who had
inordinate good fortune. Nemesis directed all human affairs in such away as to maintain equilibrium in the world/ In a word she brought balance in the human world you could say. Her name meant, 'She who distributes or deals out, happiness and  unhappiness were measured out by her, caring being taken that happiness was not too frequent or too excessive.'  If any of these things happened, it was Nemesis the Goddess that could bring about losses and
suffering, because of those things. As one who checked extravagant favours Goddess Fortune, then Nemesis was regarded as an avenging or punishing divinity or Goddess. In the Myth of Nemesis particularly in matters of love, the Goddess appears as an avenging agent in the ancient tales whose callous actions brought about death and sadness. In some versions of the Trojan War, she was the mother of Helene and is shown in scenes of her seduction by Paris, pointing an accusing finger at the girl.
I also found when looking for images for the Goddess that she was depicted as a winged Goddess quite
often. She will generally be holding a apple-branch, rein, lash, sword or balance. I found this Goddess to be not quite as well known but still yet she is a powerful Goddess in her time. Holding balance in the world as the greek Olympians would gods and Goddesses to bring peace to the earth, but at times I wonder if she might have over used her godly powers too! Its hard to know back in the days of the ancient Greeks.
I hope you Enjoy this new post on Nemesis Goddess my dear Friends and Followers!

Hippocampus

Hippocampus-
Since I just did a post on the Aughisky Fairy horse
of Ireland, I thought I would continue with this theme and
Hippocampus
do the Hippocampus creature. These two Mythology creatures
are very different in their looks and their origins too. The Aughisky Fairy horse
as I just did is from Ireland/Scotland Gaelic ancient times and the
Hippocampus creature is from Greek-Roman Mythology times. Two very different ares.
The hippocampus is a creature with the upper body of a horse, this includes the
head neck and forelegs which are quite real and the lower body of a
dolphin usually ,but sometimes a fish. Although
there are some rare cases of it being that of a serpent.
But I haven't been able to find any pictures to show of
the hippocampus of the lower body with the serpent, thus
the word rare. In my search for these
fabulous Mythology creatures, I found that, the word Hippocampus is literally means
a sea-horse. Which kinda makes since if you look at these
Hippocampus
amazing Magick creatures they do have a look of a
Sea-horse just much much larger and more powerful,
strong and vast is size too. From what I could find on the
hippocampus horse, it seems that they com
from the Greek word 'hippos' which is said to mean
horse and 'kampos' means sea monster. So the ancient Greeks
put the two together in my opinion and they came up with
Hippocampus. They are alternatively described as having the lower
body of a sea-monster, but this just depends on who you are talking too or who you might
be reading on about these I feel in my! opinion beautiful Magick Creatures.
In Greek mythology Poseidon's chariot was drawn by a team of these beautiful
Hippocampi's. There were other Greek gods of the seas that were often shown sitting or even
riding on this wondrous animals of the sea and ocean. The

Hippocamppus
hippocamppus are commonly see
in ancient Greek art and is a mythical creature associated with the Greek God of ocean Poseidon/
Neptune in Roman myth.
These most beautiful hippocampus horse have been depicted in many different
colors. From the pure white to blues, deep greens, blue/greens light blues, silvers,
bronzes, reds and even rainbow colors and more. What these magnificent hippocampus
do in the sea is a perfect metaphor for the plunging into wave as if the water was butter.
Hippocamppus
The waves could be even a 100feet in height but they could will move toward them like
they were a small lapping lake. They have been know to save drowning sailor from ships, to pull them
through difficult passages and do battle with various dreadful monsters of the depths of the
oceans. In the ancient Phoenician and Etruscan fashion, they were sometimes depicted
with wings. Poseidon's favorite Hippocampoi was a stallion named Skylla and a mare named
Sthenios.
I did find many different cultures other than that of Greece that have their own myths on the
hippocampus. One is among the Seri Indians of Northwestern Mexico, there is a legend  of a
man who had fled into the ocean to escaped his pursuers, before going into the ocean he
tucked his sandals into the back of his shirt above his belt. Once into the water he
was transformed into a seahorse, thus explaining the origin of that animal. Another culture would be that of the hippocampus - Sea-Horse in European with webbed feet in place of hooves, and a long dorsal fin down its back, was in Australia. And finally in Scandinavian Folklore, the call the hippocampus, a Havhest -sea-horse meaning to the Scandinavian people a gigantic Sea-Serpent. Their hippocampus is described as a gigantic sea-serpent with a horselike head and a double-lobed tail like that of a fish. It has glittering yellow eyes, a long mane that goes down its entire back spine and his forelimbs are like that of a seal's. There is more! It has a double row of fangs that can grow up to six feet long. And they say, the hippocampus can also breathes fire too! This hippocampus is more like a hippocampus demon-serpent in my opinion. Why because this one will sink ships and has been only seen a few times since the 19th century.
It is said to this day that the name Hippocampus is now the scientific name to the curious little fish known as the seahorse which I have done a post a while back. Which I find interesting, that they put the two creatures together. They do kinda look some what alike, but in size and the nature of each is quite different. If you look at them the Mythic Creature compared to the seahorse is only tops 14inches long. And that is the biggest, most of the seahorses are on average 6inches or lower. I found this Magick Creature to be very delightful
much more so that the Aughisky Fairy horse. I wish that If I could go back in time i could ride one of these
kind and wonderous creatures. I hope you Enjoy the Hippocampus as much a myself :o) I will continue to try and bring you wonderous and magick stories to you all my dear Friends and Followers!

The Hippocampus is commonly seen in ancient Greek art and is a mythical creature associated with the Greek god of the ocean - Poseidon (or Neptune in Roman myth). The Hippocampus has the top half of a horse including head neck and forelegs and the lower part of a fish, a dolphin or in some rare cases a serpent. Therefore the Hippocampus is literally a sea-horse. The name comes from the Greek ‘hippos’ meaning horse and ‘kampos’ meaning sea monster.
Poseidon was the god of horses as well as the god of the sea and earthquakes. Many Hippocampi were needed to draw the chariot of the sea of Poseidon. Homer describes Poseidon as driving a chariot pulled by brazen-hoofed horses across the sea. The Hippocampus appears frequently in bronzeware, silverware and paintings of the ancient Greeks and the Etruscans but also feature in the artworks of India and Mesopotamia. According to one tale when the city of Helike was submerged by an earthquake the Hippocampi swam free above the city and pulled on the lines of fisherman's rods. The Hippocampus are also the mounts for the Nerieds and spiritual beings. There are 4 other fish tailed animals like the Hippocampus:

The Aughisky Fairy Horse of Ireland-

The Aughisky Faiy Horse of Ireland-
In Scottish Gaelic, water horse is a mythological Scottish water
spirit, called the eachuisce or The Aughisky Fairy Horese in Ireland. It is very
The Aughisky Fairy Horse

similar to the Kelpie of,but far more vicious. These are the water horses
of Ireland and are similare to the Uisge and the Cabyll-Ushtey. These Aughisky Fairy
horses gallop out of the crashing waves onto the shore, venturing onto inland.  They
are supposed to make excellent mounts of whoever can catch one although for an ride, but
riding on the Aughisksy Fairy Horse is not without risk. If they hear or see the sea they will
set off in an uncontrollable charge or gallop straight back into the watery depths where they
came from, taking their helpless rider with them to be torn apart once they have gotten to
Aughisky Fairy Horse
the bottom of the sea. Eyewitnesses have described the animal as a Water Horse which is capable of assuming the characteristics of a man, save for its ears, which retain their horse-like appearance. According to legend the Aughisky pastime was to pretend to be grazing quietly at night in order to lure unsuspecting humans onto its back by appearing to be a docile horse. Once the trusting individual was firmly situated on the creature’s spine it would suddenly bolt
Aughisky Fairy Horse
into the sea.   It has also been claimed that the skin of the Aughisky has adhesive properties, which would explain why its victims aren’t able to leap to safety before plummeting into their watery graves.

Generally once they have gone to the depths of the ocean, the Aughisky Fairy
horses will drown and eat its rider. Under water although it refuses to eat human livers, it will consume
the rest of the human. It seems to have developed a dislike for the human liver, so they eat everything but the liver and toss it in the depth of the sea for other sea creatures. It kills by constriction and can change its shape to a handsome man or a giant bird. It leaves a slimy trail when moving on  land. It has even been suggested that the Aughisky Fairy horse maybe
called the 'Irish-crocodile', which is more commonly referred to as the Dobhar Chu.
Aughisky Fairy Horse
There have been even Eyewitnesses that have described the Aughisky Horse Fairy as an
Water Horse which is capable of assuming the characteristics of a man, but he still retains his
horse-like appearance. According to the legend of the Aughisky Fairy his pastime was in
ancient times and maybe even in some area's of Ireland to lure unsuspecting humans onto
its back by appearing to be a docile horse.
Once the trusting individual was firmly situated on the creatures spine it would blot for the nearest
body of water, usually the sea but sometimes a lake or riverbed will do. Then the human would be plumbed to their rather gruesome grave compare to the kelpie.

 Irish Folk-Lore by G. H. Kinahan, Record 4, 1881
There are fairies like a horse that inhabit certain lakes, yet most people are afraid to pass a place they frequent after it is dark. If a person gets between them and the water, and can steal up and put a halter on

them, they can be subdued and used as long as they are not allowed to see lake, riverbank or sea, but once they are allowed to see it, all power over the Aughisky Fairy is lost. There are many of  stories of Ireland that tell of the Aughisky Fairy  and their riders dashing into the water and never to be seen again.

An Aughisky Fairy is said to a few years ago frequent Lough Mask, County of Mayo, preying on the cattle until it was laid by a monk of Tourmkedy. Another that lived in Lough Corrib had a serpent's body and a horse's head; this used to feed on the bodies buried in the churchyard to the south-east of Oughterard, but one of the Lees whose sister was buried watch her body and killed the monster, its blood staining the church wall to his day; the holes through which this Aughisky Fairy horse

came up can be seen alone it track through the Lemonfield Bog. There is a bit more to the tale; A Aughisky Fairy horse that lived in Litter-craffoe Lake was captured by a boy of the Cooney's who was told by a wise woman if he ever let it see the water it would be the death of him. For years it was a faithful horse, but one day he brought it in sight of the lake, into which it shot like a arrow, carrying its owner and once friend with it, whom it killed and tore his master to pieces, devouring him as blood and fragments of his body floated upon the surface of the water.

So as the tale is so true. Even after years of companionship these creatures can turn into
vicious creatures much more than the Kelpies of Scotland. So you much take care with the Aughisky Fairy Horse of Ireland. These Aughisky Fairy horses are about 21 feet in length and as thick as a bull. It has a
Aughisky Fairy Horse
horse like head and it's neck with an mane of hair. It has sometimes been described as 'Serpentine' in shape.  It's behaviour is most frequently in the month of November - Samhain. It grazes with normal horses. If someone tries to ride these dangerous creatures, it will gallop off to the nearest body of water as if the moment the human body touches his spine, something in the creature goes off. and turns him into a demon. As they gallop with speeds that now real horse could every do into any body of water where it will drown it human rider. Than devourer it by tearing the body apart. Eating everything but the liver. It can change shapeshift into a handsome man or a gaint bird.
Aughisky Fairy Horse
One trail that the crature leaves is a slimy trail on land when moving about.
I did find out one interesting fact about this creature which it seems that when the Aughiskey Fairy horse is in his human form it is said to appear to be quite a handsome man and can be recongnised as a mythological creature only by the water weeds in its hair, because of his people of the Highlands were often wary of lone animals and strangers aby the waters edge near where the each-uisge was reputed to live.
I hope my dear Friends and Followers that you find this to be an interesting post. I certainly did myself..
